Jeremy Silver: American Plumber Stories

Read his American Plumber story!

How did you get started in the plumbing trade?

I entered plumbing right after high school. I was given a job at a commercial and residential plumbing company in Corona, CA.

What do you like most about your work as a plumber?

As an owner in a small town, I love giving back to my community. From helping customers in their time of need to serving on my towns school board of education.

My wife and I are extremely involved in serving those who help support our business. We sponsor several sports teams, educational programs, non profits and individual families through outreach in our community. My wife (who owns the company with me) and I are deeply invested in our community as a teacher.

While I run the day to day operations of Red Rocket she devotes her day to helping students then coming home and helping me run the company and raise our two daughters. I was recently elected to our towns school district board and am now advocating for increased CTE programs in our schools to provide students exposure to real life careers they can enter after high school.

What advice do you have for the younger generation entering the plumbing trade?

It’s hard in the beginning, but you need to be a sponge to information that’s coming your way. Don’t be afraid to write things down so you can go back and double check what you were told/ read. Wear PPE when it’s needed. Straight is not a thing we call it plumb. Shit flows down hill and pay days on Fridays! Don’t chew your nails.
