Jeremy Sar: American Plumber Stories

How did you get started in the plumbing trade?
I went to Greater Lowell Technical High School and took the plumbing shop. I got my license at 21 and started my own company at 22. I worked plumbing and lowes almost 80 hours weekly when I was younger. I worked in the plumbing department of Lowes and used my time to learn about faucets, brands, fittings, etc. I also used my time at Lowe's to study human interactions.
What do you like most about your work as a plumber?
As a plumber, the thing I love most is customer interaction. I love to meet and hear all of my customers' stories, fix their issues, and see the joy in their faces. I find purpose in life helping out others and giving them the best quality of workmanship while respecting their homes with drop clothes and booties.
What advice do you have for the younger generation entering the plumbing trade?
If you want to be the best, you need to compare yourself to everybody older. People always say to go at your own pace and not to compare yourself, but the truth is to compare yourself to the top guy and try to catch up to him a little bit every day. You will be further ahead them people your age without even noticing and you will be worth way more.
