How did you get started in the plumbing trade?
Influence from my grandfather and my dad. My dad told me when I graduated high school to get a job or get out. My grandfather had a small construction business and encouraged me to take up a trade, especially plumbing. He told me that they made a lot of money but just had to work hard. I wasn’t scared of work because that’s all we ever did was freaking work. Day in and day out. I knew that I had the work ethic to do the job and all I needed was to be taught the basics of the trade. So I applied to work at a local plumbing company and was taught the tools of the trade. I always wanted to be an entrepreneur and decided I would give it a shot. I started my company in 2016 and focused primarily on service and installation. Not a lot of new construction. I currently employ two young men who have a vast interest in the trade and are doing very well. I have a lot of faith in them and enjoy passing on my knowledge of the trade in hopes that they will take over and I can focus more on the business aspect of things. I wouldn’t trade my career path for anything. It sucks some days but so does everything else. It is what it is. It’s a damn good career and has kept my family taken well care of. I hope my young son will pick it up and run with it. I just hope my father and grandfather are proud. Pride in plumbing.
